The Rise Lantern Festival took place last night in the Mojave Desert, Nevada. The rise of the lanterns was one of the most magical things I’ve ever experienced! I saw many people tearing up and crying with joy the moment ten thousand lantern were release in unison into the sky. I had an idea of the event based on videos I had seen on Youtube, but never though it would be this magical in person. The location was great, the weather was perfect and despite the transportation issues with bringing people in and out of the event, overall my experience was good.
Upon our arrival we were welcomed by this creative sign. People had the opportunity to take as many photos as they wanted and the lighting was just perfect.
The sun was setting and the clouds were full of color! Thousands of people embracing the moment and taking as many photo memories as they could.
They had thousands of seating arrangements for people to choose from. With the purchase of your ticket, you were assigned to a specific section and within your section each group could sit wherever they wanted. Each section included yoga mats and lanterns and markers. Food and drinks were sold separately.
Once seated, we patiently waited for the sun to go down and the release of the lanterns to begin.
The moment was here! We all wrote special prayers and wishes on our lanterns, lit them, and sent them up into the sky. This moment will always remain in my heart. I could see people crying and hugging each other. Some with joy, others with pain in their hearts. Everyone had a story, whether good or bad. There were several attendee’s with terminal cancer, some with only days to live. My prayers went specifically for them and everyone else going through this struggle. All in all, The Rise Festival in Nevada really touched my heart.
Enjoy the rest of the photos from the event and if you see yourself on any of these photos, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’ll be more than happy to share the images with you.
